Dr Brenton McKewin

Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist

Dr McKewin is a Child and Adolescent and General Psychiatrist who works across the public and private sector. He accepts general psychiatric referrals for patients aged 0-25 years old, and will accept referrals for eating disorders for patients of all ages. He is no longer able to accept referrals for assessment of ADHD or ASD, or for management of ADHD medications. He will attempt to prioritise referrals for eating disorders. Dr McKewin treats young people struggling with a wide variety of mental ill-health including; anxiety, mood difficulties, OCD, and somatoform disorders. He treats people of all ages with eating disorders. Dr McKewin believes strongly in the importance of a holistic and collaborative approach to the assessment and treatment of mental ill-health. He considers the involvement of parents and families as essential in the treatment of mental ill-health in young people. Dr McKewin studied medicine at the University of Tasmania. After graduating, he completed his specialist psychiatric and advanced training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry with the Hunter New England Network in NSW. He is a current fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists. Dr McKewin, is taking new patients and he has a relatively short waiting period.
